The Build Method

What Is a Monopour?

In a standard two-pour build, the floor is poured first, then the walls are stacked on top and poured separately. A monopour eliminates that seam entirely — the entire shell is formed and poured at once, creating one continuous concrete structure.

Walls and floor poured simultaneously

The monopour method eliminates the cold joint where floor meets wall — the shell is one continuous, monolithic structure from bottom to top.

Strongest possible shell

A monolithic pour means no weak points, no seams, and no places for water to work through the structure over time. This is the gold standard of ICF pool construction.

Required for premium finishes

Plaster, EcoFinish, PebbleTec, and tile finishes require a monopour shell. These finishes rely on the concrete surface for adhesion — a cold joint would create a failure point.

Award-winning results

Every ICF Builder Magazine award All3 Pools has won was built using the monopour method. The Condor, Shaw Hollow, and Bama Breeze — all monopour builds.

The technical difference: In a two-pour build, a cold joint is created between the floor and walls because they're poured separately by design. This simplifies forming and sequencing, while the interior vinyl liner or PVC membrane serves as the primary 100% waterproofing layer. In a monopour, the shell is cast continuously, eliminating the cold joint and reducing a common leak path. The concrete shell itself is not a standalone waterproof barrier and still requires a proper interior finish, such as plaster, eco-finish, or tile.

Training Required Before Purchase

You Must Attend All3 ICF Pool Training Before Purchasing a Monopour Kit

The monopour method requires precise sequencing, bracing, and pour execution. One mistake during the pour can compromise the entire shell. Our 3-day hands-on training course exists to make sure you're ready — and we require it before we ship a Monopour Kit.

ICF Pool Builder Training — What You Learn

  • Live monopour pour during class — you do the work, not just watch
  • ICF block layout, bracing, and rebar placement for a monopour pool
  • Permitting and bidding for cementitious finish projects
  • Direct Q&A with Aaron King and the All3 build team
  • Certificate of completion — required to purchase a Monopour Kit

Training: $3,090 per person · 3 days in Springfield, MO

Classes run quarterly. Seats are limited. Next class: March 26–28, 2026.

Finish Options

Only the Monopour Supports These Finishes

Plaster, EcoFinish, PebbleTec, and tile all require a continuous concrete surface for adhesion. A cold joint creates a failure point — which is why these finishes require a monopour shell.

Plaster

The traditional pool finish. White marble plaster over the concrete shell creates a smooth, classic look. Requires monopour — no cold joint tolerance.

Most Popular

EcoFinish

A durable thermoplastic coating applied directly to concrete. Mirror-smooth, UV-stable, and available in dozens of colors. Used in the award-winning Condor and Shaw Hollow pools.

PebbleTec

Aggregate finish embedded in white plaster for a natural stone appearance. Extremely durable. Available in multiple pebble sizes and color blends.

Tile

Ceramic, porcelain, or glass tile for a custom, high-end result. Full tile, waterline tile, or combination applications all work with a monopour shell.

We help you select and coordinate your finish as part of the quoting process.

Common Questions About the Monopour Kit

The monopour method requires precise bracing, rebar placement, and pour sequencing. Unlike the two-pour method where mistakes can be caught between pours, a monopour is a single shot — if something is wrong during the pour, you can't stop and fix it. Our 3-day training course teaches you exactly how to set up and execute a successful monopour before you do it on a client's property.

A cold joint forms wherever two pours meet — in a two-pour build, that's the seam between the floor slab and the walls. Over time, cold joints can be a point of water infiltration or structural movement. In a monopour, the floor pan and walls are poured simultaneously as one continuous structure, so there is no seam — the shell is monolithic from bottom to top.

You can, but it's overkill. Vinyl liners and PVC membranes are designed to bridge a cold joint, which is why they pair well with the two-pour Standard Kit. If you want a vinyl finish, the Standard Kit is the better value. The Monopour Kit is designed for builders pursuing plaster, EcoFinish, PebbleTec, or tile.

We don't list a fixed price because every Monopour Kit is custom-configured to your pool's exact dimensions, features, and site requirements. The components are more complex to spec for a monopour than a two-pour, and the quote reflects that precision. Submit your dimensions using the form below and we'll have a quote to you within 2–3 business days.

The construction phase of a monopour typically takes 6–12 weeks from kit delivery to finish application, depending on pool size, crew, weather, and local permit timelines. The monopour pour itself — once everything is staged — is completed in a single day.

Yes. Our training is specific to ICF pool construction and the monopour method — it's not generic concrete or pool training. Even experienced pool builders and concrete contractors attend and learn things they didn't expect. The training requirement protects you, your clients, and our reputation for quality.

Yes — on-site support from the All3 team is available for first-time monopour builds. This is especially common for complex builds with infinity edges, acrylic walls, or tight site conditions. Ask us about on-site support during the quoting process.
